Course Format Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are Trial Courses?
A: Sometimes we have new classes or curriculum that we want to try out, or have logistics we need to test before a class is ready for wider release. This is where Trial Courses come in, they allow us to test out a class and make any final adjustments, while at the same time giving students early access to new training. Trial versions of courses may be offered at a discounted rate from their regular price, with the understanding that the class may still have some kinks that need to be worked out. Students attending a Trial version of a course may also be asked to provide feedback during the course related to the curriculum, exercises, or course flow.

Q: What are In-Person Instructor-Led courses?
A: Instructor-Led courses are classes where students and instructors gather together in person during the duration of the class. Most Instructor-Led courses can be done at either our site, or a client’s site. Because students go through the course under the direction of an instructor and can ask questions, and the courses are usually done in an environment that is focused on learning; Instructor-Led courses are typically the best format for student learning and long-term retention of information and skills.  PLEASE NOTE: If the course is a Hybrid course, all students will still receive a Zoom link as a backup (even if signing up to attend the course in-person).  IF YOU DECIDE THAT YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE WAY YOU ATTEND THE COURSE TO BE DIFFERENT THAN HOW YOU SIGNED UP INITIALLY, PLEASE LET US KNOW AHEAD OF TIME.  We may not be able to accommodate course attendance change requests made less than 24 hours prior to the start of a course.

Q: What are Online Instructor-Led courses?
A: Online Instructor-Led courses are classes that take place online using meeting software like Zoom and allow students to attend the class from the comfort of their home or workplace.  Because these classes are still taught by a live instructor they are the second best course format for student learning and long-term retention of information.

Q: What are Hybrid courses?
A: Hybrid Courses are Instructor-Led courses that are available for students to attend either In-Person or Online via Zoom.  PLEASE NOTE: For Hybrid courses, all students will still receive a Zoom link as a backup (even if signing up to attend the course in-person).

Q: What are Online Blended courses?
A: Online Blended and Hybrid courses are classes that take place in two parts.  The first part is usually done entirely online and involves a student either logging into a learning platform and completing lesson(s) at their own pace, or attending a Zoom lecture taught by a live instructor.  Once the online portion is successfully completed, students schedule or attend an in-person skills session with a live instructor.  These courses are fairly effective for student learning and long-term retention of information and skills; and are a good option for students needing certifications and are unable to attend an In Person class.

Q: What are Online Instructor-Guided courses?
A: Online Instructor-Guided courses are classes that take place entirely in an online learning platform, lessons usually must be completed within a set timeframe, but within that timeframe students set the pace for their individual learning.  Online Instructor-Guided courses usually do not involve direct interaction with an instructor, however a live instructor does oversee the course, grade assignments, and can answer questions via email or in-class messages.  Online Instructor Guided courses may be more challenging for student learning and long-term retention of information compared to other course formats that feature direct interaction with a live instructor.  But are a good option for courses that require some structure, while still allowing for students to have control over the pace and time of learning.  And since the course is overseen by a live instructor, they are able to assist students with questions or issues encountered during the course.

Q: What are Online courses?
A: Online courses are classes that take place entirely in an online learning platform, and usually at a pace set by the student. Online courses usually do not involve direct interaction with an instructor, and students are automatically issued a certificate upon successful completion of the class. Online courses may be more challenging for student learning and long-term retention of information compared to other course formats; but are a good option for students that want a convenient class without any extra frills. Please note that some online classes have set time periods within which you must complete the course once you have started it. After the time period is up, if you have not completed the course you will have to re-enroll and pay the course fee again.
