NIMS / ICS Training

National Incident Management System (NIMS)

Incident Command System (ICS)

The Incident Command System, or ICS, is a standardized modular approach to the command, control, and coordination of emergency response and management.  ICS is part of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) which is implemented through FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security.  All ICS courses are taught by qualified instructors that have completed MGT-906 (ICS-449) and are certified through the Oregon Department of Emergency Management as ICS Instructors.  ICS can be applied not only to response agencies, but also to private sector corporations and nongovernmental organizations as a means to manage emergency situations or even daily operations.  Many ICS Courses can be offered both in-person and online using the Zoom platform.

Why do ICS classes have two numbers in the class title?  The first number is the ICS class number, the last number (in parenthesis) is the TSI Class Level number.  (Don’t understand what that is?  Check out the Course Info FAQ page for more information.)

- PLEASE NOTE -

Due to current Oregon Department of Emergency Management rules, ICS 300, ICS 400, and G0191 can only be offered in-person within the state of Oregon.  ICS 100, 200 and G402 are the only ICS courses that can be offered in an online instructor-led format to out-of-state clients.  The Oregon Department of Emergency Management also does not allow us to charge for individual students, so we are unable to offer any ICS courses as part of our regularly scheduled class lineup.  ICS courses can only be offered when sponsored entirely by an organization and offered at no cost to students.
