Overview
Is your CERT program in a rut?  Are you concerned that your training is becoming outdated and could be more effective overall?  This course was designed to counteract the natural decay of training and keep CERT programs refreshed with new ideas and new techniques.  The course includes updates to the CERT curriculum put out by FEMA, and features material and best practices straight from first responder playbooks that has been tailored specifically to the needs of CERT programs.

Class Format
Please note this class comes in several formats, please pay attention to which format you are selecting when registering.

  • In-Person: The class is held in person at one of our training sites.
  • Online Instructor-Led: Students complete part online at their own pace, then come in for in-person Skills Sessions.

Description​
​As with anything, CERT information is constantly growing and changing and skills need to be refreshed. New trends, changes to practices, and updated information help keep the training relevant and refreshing core competencies helps keep us effective. In recognition of this, TSI has built a special update and refresher course intended to be taken every 2 to 4 years. The Update and Refresher Course is intended to bring CERT Instructors, Program Managers, and CERT leadership up to speed on current practices, new trends, and new changes to training; as well as refresh on core skills and competencies that serve as the foundation of CERT operations.
Course Purpose:
The purpose of the update and refresher course is to keep programs up to speed with current trends and best practices.
