Oregon Concealed Handgun (Live Fire)

Overview
If you want a comprehensive Oregon Concealed Handgun License training course, then this is the class for you!  This course covers the same important topics as our CHL lecture course, including laws and regulations, carry considerations, basic tactical first aid concepts, and more; but combines them with practical live-fire range exercises to help improve your accuracy and shooting skills.

Classroom and Range portions of this class are typically done at separate locations (see location information when signing up for the class).  The ranges we use are within a 30 minute drive from our site in Junction City. Directions available upon request.

Class Requirements:

  • Semi-automatic pistol or revolver (Whichever you would normally carry)
  • At least 200 rounds of factory ammunition (Leave guns and ammo in your car, do not bring to classroom)
  • Eye and Ear Protection (Mandatory on range)
  • Case for your firearm
  • Ballcap (Recommended)
  • Closed-toe shoes, no low-cut shirts
  • ​​Water/hydration
  • Signed and filled out liability waiver (see below)
  • Proper fitting belt holster for your handgun

Description

Approximate Length: 8 hrs
(Includes half hour break for lunch and 45 minutes for travel from the classroom to the range; breaks may be combined depending on format)
*​Classes may run longer or shorter based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to class size.

 

Class Format

  • In Person: The class is held in person, usually with the classroom lecture portion taking place at one of our training sites, and the range portion taking place at a nearby range (locations will be stated in the selection).
  • Hybrid: The classroom lecture portion is held online via Zoom, taught by a live instructor.  Students attend via the Zoom platform.  After completing the lecture portion, students and instructors meet together at a nearby range for the range portion.​

 

Description

The Oregon CHL Live-Fire course is a comprehensive concealed handgun course that combines classroom lecture with live fire exercises. The classroom portion of the course focuses on many topics related to concealed carry, including laws and legal aspects, gun safety, a section on basic tactical first aid and much more. The range portion applies what is learned in the classroom, students get practical experience with a variety of techniques and distances. We set out to put together a class that covers every aspect of carrying concealed so that students are properly informed and prepared, not only to get their license, but also to be responsible gun owners. We highly recommend this course for anyone looking to get their concealed handgun license in Oregon. After completing this course the student can apply at their local Sheriff’s Office for an Oregon CHL which is valid in Oregon, states that recognize the Oregon CHL, and states that do not require a license to carry concealed.

NOTE: This course is taught by a certified firearms instructor and meets the training requirements for an Oregon CHL.

THE RANGE IS GATED, WE WILL MEET UP OUTSIDE THE GATE. THERE IS A GRAVEL PULL OUT ACROSS FROM THE GATE, MAKE SURE YOU ARE OFF THE ROAD AND NOT BLOCKING TRAFFIC
PLEASE NOTE: This range requires that all firearms be transported unloaded in a bag or case, unless concealed, on duty, or in uniform. Speed limit on all range roads is 15 mph maximum. They have a no tolerance policy on alcohol, no consumption, and you cannot have any in your vehicle, including empty containers.
